How EIS is calculated

Malaysia EIS contributions are commonly described as about 0.2% from the employee and 0.2% from the employer. In payroll, the official PERKESO Act 800 contribution schedule is the source of truth because it assigns prescribed amounts to wage bands.

This calculator finds the applicable wage band, applies the RM6,000 contribution ceiling where needed, and returns the exact employee and employer amounts from the table.

Employer

0.2% banded

RM6,000 wage ceiling

PERKESO states that from 1 October 2024, the contribution ceiling for Act 800 increased from RM5,000 to RM6,000. If monthly wages exceed RM6,000, EIS contributions remain at the RM6,000 ceiling amount and do not keep increasing with salary.

What is EIS in Malaysia?

EIS stands for Employment Insurance System. It is managed by PERKESO/SOCSO and is intended to support eligible insured workers after loss of employment. It is not the same as EPF, SOCSO contribution under Act 4, or PCB income tax.

Eligibility overview

EIS coverage and benefit eligibility depend on the worker category, employment status and reason for loss of employment. Treat this as general guidance only and check PERKESO for official confirmation before making payroll or claim decisions.
