Informal Communication

What is Informal Communication?

Informal communication is where colleagues communicate informally at work. Informal communication is unofficial in nature and is founded on the casual, social relationships that develop in the workplace outside of the traditional company hierarchy. As a result, casual market contact between the CEO and an hourly worker is possible. This method of contact is critical in the workplace because it can boost employee productivity and foster a sense of belonging among workers, clients, and customers.
