What is the Affordable Care Act (ACA)?

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is often abbreviated as ACA by HR departments. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed by the 111th Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama in March 2010. ACA is also known as Obamacare. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) reshaped benefits administration by new rules, fees, and penalties, with the goal of expanding healthcare access to more American citizens.
